house fire and insurance HELP?

I own a home, and have insurance, the coverage amount is 172000 on the dwelling, I owe the morgate company 72000 on the house. When it burned I was not staying at the house I was staying with my grandmother, I was buy there at least 2 times a day because my indoor cat was still there because I could not bring her with me. Can the insurance not want to pay because I was not sleeping there at night? All of my belongings where still there as well.
